How to Add a Facebook Like Button to Your Blog

This is a really simple method using a bit of copy/paste that lets you install the new Facebook Like button on your blog or website. Works on any page that allows iframes, and is super easy to install. Copy the code below and paste in your WordPress theme (index.php and/or single.php)

Here’s the code:

(Editor’s note: the code wasn’t showing up correctly in the post, so I’ve removed it and substituted a PDF that you can download here.)

If you’d like pictures to show up, simply increase or remove the height limitations and you’ll find that pictures show up below.

And the video:

  • There is also a plugin that does this much easier.

The coding is quicker. You can just log in and stick it where you want it. With a plugin you have to download it and then upload it to your Cpanel-activiate it. And probably do some adjusting.

I like the simplicity of the coding, myself.
  • I'm sure there is, but I like having as much control as I can over the placement and the functionality as I can.
  • Nathan,

I believe that this has so much potential even more than retweets. Why? because there are so many friends and family and real people on Facebook that will click on whatever you like just to check it out.

I cannot wait for this to grow!
  • I can't wait either. This is going to be a big deal. Many brands have started using Facebook URL's in TV commercials and on the radio. Facebook is only going to continue to grow. I bet MySpace is rolling in their grave.

  • hmmm, which theme are you using? Maybe copy/paste your code or URL and I can take a look.

  • which page did you try, the blog?
  • RLT
    Yes the single post.php
  • Thanks Nathan, very helpful. We need more writers like you who put out actionable posts and not just fluff and hype. You're doing good work.
  • Long time no talk, how have you been?
  • Thanks man. Saw it somewhere else and couldn't resist installing it. Really excited about the potential with this.
